These pieces are all from the ‘Design Fundamentals’ class I took at our local community college. We had to create one design and then present it in a variety of ways using different mediums.

~Not all of the works I created in this class are shown here, some of them were paper sculptures that did not survive my messy bedroom   ~sheepish grin~

The embossed ones were created by carving the designs into pieces of mat board and gluing them together (into a stack) and creating  a block.

We each had to create 6 variations of our design and make six blocks.

Then we had to wet some expensive heavy cold pressed paper and put it on top of our blocks and run them through a pressing machine. After my embossed designs dried I colored over them with pastel chalks.

The two multi-media pieces were made on illustration board using oil pastels, water color wash and artist colored pencils. The cut-outs and etchings were done using an exacto knife.

Have to admit I kinda got tired of doing the same design over and over again! But I did learn a lot in this class.

Hope you like them ~
